NOVUS LAUNCHES 2023 FOOD BANK APPEAL
We are thrilled to have launched our 2023 food bank appeal!
Due to the current cost of living crisis, food prices have dramatically risen over the last few months. Sadly, for over 2.2 million people it is a time of worry, hardship and uncertainty as to where their next meal will come from.
It is because of alarming statistics like this, that back in 2020, 32% of Novus colleagues voted that we should be supporting local food banks as part of our wider Build Back Better initiative.
This is where our food bank appeal comes in. With over 2000 food banks across Great Britain, generous donations help to support these projects in improving people’s access to food.
Our teams are already getting stuck in, with plans to support food banks up and down the country over the festive period and beyond. Below are just some of the current highlights:
Food chiller van donated to help more people in the South WestAs part of our planned maintenance contract with The Guinness Partnership across the South West, we recently part-funded the purchase of two mobile food chiller vans for food charity Devon and Cornwall Food Action. With an ever-increasing demand for their services, Devon and Cornwall Food Action wanted to be able to reach more people across the region, however didn’t have the funds required to expand their services. As a result of the joint donation from Novus and Guinness, the new jointly branded vans are improving the transportation of surplus and donated food to many local, organisations such as community housing projects, ‘YMCA’, ‘Devon & Cornwall Police’ and ‘Frontline Veterans Support’ (to name but a few), working with economically disadvantaged people in local communities. Alan Dunne, Chairman of Devon and Cornwall Food Action commented; “The whole team at Devon and Cornwall Food Action would like to thank Guinness and Novus for their kind support and donation to help us fund two new Food chiller vehicles. These vehicles are refrigerated and will allow us to expand our support across the region to individuals who are experiencing financial hardship and poverty.” |
Our Basingstoke team raised £1370 to create Christmas hampers for those struggling over the festive periodOur Basingstoke team, with the support of our subcontracts and supply chain, collected funds to create Christmas hampers for the Basingstoke food bank. In total the team managed to raise a magnificent £1370 and donate many food and household items. Each hamper included food, Christmas treats, toiletries and Christmas crackers. With all the contributions, the team were able to make a total of 48 Christmas hamper bags! |

In total, they managed to raise £100 for The Trussell Trust food bank as well as donating other items. Edmundson Campbell from the Trussell Trust food bank commented: “Thank you so much for your time today and for the donation of £100 to the food bank. We are so grateful for every penny and hope you will come and help us again at future events.” We are proud to be helping those most in need this winter and are committed to reducing poverty across Great Britain. |
