UPP – Kirkstall Brewery

Summer Refurbishment
We were appointed by University Partnership Programme (UPP) Residential Services to carry out a full refurbishment of Kirkstall Brewery Halls of Residence, a sandstone building that was formerly an operating brewery.
The objective of the refurbishment project was to create a high standard of student accommodation that appeals to the younger audience, thereby encouraging more students to choose to live on campus at Leeds Beckett University.
Works were carried out over the summer break period whilst the halls were unoccupied to ensure minimal disruption and operational efficiency.
64 rooms, 12 kitchens and communal areas were given a new lease of life with replacement lighting, which included colour changing LED mood lights in the bedrooms.
Two of the 12 new kitchens installed were used to trial custom graphic splash back panels behind the sink and cooker.
The team laid new flooring throughout the halls, extended the mezzanine flooring and were also replaced flooring within another two other student blocks alongside this project.
Complete redecoration of all areas and the introduction of new furniture provided a high-quality finish to the refurbishment.
Effective planning in the run-up period and co-ordination of activities during the works were the key components in the successfully delivery of this project, during the summer University shutdown period.
