Scalans Property Management
We recently carried out an external redecoration to two apartment blocks at Granby Village in Manchester. The works included a full decoration to all previously painted surfaces including windows, fascias, soffits and metal work. We also carried out improvement works including roof works and pre-paint repairs and cleaned all the surfaces of efflorescence.
The buildings contain over 200 apartments between them, and we ran each block simultaneously to maximise efficiency. Each block is broken down into ten elevations, and we erected the scaffold in sections. Once the scaffolds were erected, we only had six weeks to complete all the works required before the scaffold was dismantled and assembled on the following section.
To maximise the efficiency of the scaffold, we carried out surveys on each section prior to beginning works to identify any repairs which needed to be made. These included, but were not limited to: roof works, pointing, cleaning and any pre-paint repairs. We reported our findings to the client, who then approved for the improvement works to be carried out. This was the first-time scaffold had been put up on the buildings, so completing repairs ensures a longer lifespan for the building, and is cost effective to the client.
Occupants of the buildings were kept informed of each stage of the work at all times. Once each section of the work was complete, we held a handover site meeting with the client who signed off the works.
