Q Parks – Painting and Redecoration
Q-Park manages 76 car parks at prime city centre locations across the UK and prides itself on the quality of its customer service as well as providing convenient, clean, bright, safe and secure facilities.
Q Parks and Novus Relationship
Last year, we carried out a complete redecoration of the OMNI car park in Edinburgh, which was the first facility Q-Park opened in the city and is ideally located close to many of the top attractions in the city centre.
Since then, we have also refurbished the Wellington Street car park in the centre of Leeds, which serves the growing number of offices in the city as well as the Piccadilly Place car park in the centre of Manchester.
Painting and Redecoration Projects
A team of four operatives from our Bathgate office repainted four ramps, three lift entrances and a lift corridor at the OMNI car park in just one-month last year.
A vibrant new colour scheme was introduced with different colours used to distinguish different levels of the car park to make it much easier for customers to navigate around the car park and find their level.
This summer, over the course of four weeks, we also repainted all six levels of the Wellington Street car park in Leeds, using Q-Park’s corporate colour scheme of blacks, whites and greys.
The team repainted all areas of the car park including the entrances, ramps, pedestrian access and staircases, dealing with a range of different substrates from concrete sofits and pillars to metal barriers.
All three projects required work to be undertaken out of hours to minimise disruption to car park users.
The OMNI car park in Edinburgh is open 24 hours a day, meaning parts of the decoration had to be carried out in isolation to allow the car park to remain in continual use throughout the project.
As a result, the car park never closed to the public during the month-long project.
The Wellington Street car park in Leeds primarily serves office workers so all works were carried out from 6pm each night, once the majority of cars had left.
We also ensured everything was returned to normal at the end of each shift, ready for the next morning.
Surface Preparation and Minor Repairs Delivered
Our operatives carefully prepared all the surfaces and carried out any necessary minor repairs, including filling in cracks at the start of each project and high-performance paints were specified to guarantee a quality, long-lasting finish for Q-Park.
We applied Johnstone’s Stormshield Smooth Masonry Paint, a premium quality acrylic resin-based coating formulated for exterior use on cement, render, brick and concrete, on the ramp walls and bases and lift corridor walls.
It provides a smooth finish that resists dirt accumulation and offers excellent weather resistance.
We have also carried out other smaller works for Q-Park over the last five years of working together including the repair to ceilings at the Sovereign Street car park in Leeds.
