Poole Housing Partnership
External redecoration and building fabric works
Our relationship with Poole Housing Partnership Ltd (PHP) began in April 2009 when we successfully secured a five-year contract to deliver external redecoration and building fabric works through a process of competitive tender. We are currently operating in our second two-year extension – a testimony to our performance and the strength of our relationship.
The scope of services on the contract comprises external redecoration including masonry and timber repairs, replacement soffits/fascias/rainwater goods and external painting and internal building fabric works including painting and wallpapering of communal areas. We have also completed approximately £50,000 of additional works outside of the scope of the contract to date at the request of PHP. This financial year we have a budget of £800,000 and approximately 512 properties programmed for completion.
Previously on the contract, we undertook maintenance works on the 10-storey Grenville Court residential complex, decorating internal communal areas – including staircases, wings and corridors – using an intumescent paint to reduce the risk of fire spread. Throughout the project, we liaised with the residents of Grenville Court, holding coffee mornings to keep them updated on the progression of the project and to afford them the opportunity to voice any questions or concerns that they may have.
Sustainability is at the heart of our work with the Partnership and great importance is placed on recycling and waste management – an area in which we are achieving a performance rating of more than 90%. We develop innovative ways of recycling waste – one of our ideas involved creating bird boxes for the Partnership using scrap timber and placing them in areas nominated by PHP.
In keeping with our ‘think local’ approach to service delivery approximately 90% of the sub-contractors and staff members in our direct labour team reside within the Poole and Bournemouth areas. This approach affords numerous social benefits including local skills development and economic contribution. We have also worked with Poole College to create Apprentice opportunities, providing young people from the local area an opportunity to gain valuable skills and work experience within our organisation.
A representative from Poole Housing Partnership said: “We work very closely and Novus understands our objectives as a client, which is really important to us. The contract is running really smoothly. Novus put so much time and effort into interacting with our customers and that’s why it’s such a successful working relationship.”
Wayne Appleby, Novus Contracts Manager said: “We have a successful 5 year partnership contract with Poole Housing Partnership and have just entered the first year of a 2 year extension.”
We have formed a strong working relationship and are achieving over 90% customer satisfaction. This has led to us undertaking additional works aside from our main contract both on residents’ homes and PHP offices.
