Day-to-day maintenance, emergency call outs, planned refurbishment and decorating

As part of our partnership with Langley House Trust, we’ve done our bit to create a stunning urban garden for residents of Tekoa House in Rochdale.

We’ve worked with Langley House Trust, which provides accommodation for ex-offenders as part of the rehabilitation process, for the last three years. Through the contract, we provide a mixture of day-to-day maintenance, emergency call-outs and planned refurbishment and decorating, all coordinated by our Manchester office.

While completing maintenance work at Tekoa House in Rochdale, a large hostel for homeless men and women including some who are at risk of offending, it became clear that the residents needed a garden area to use as a retreat as part of their rehabilitation, as well as for growing herbs and plants.

Over the course of four days, our staff completely transformed the area outside Tekoa House, which had been little more than a concrete backyard, into an oasis for residents to enjoy for years to come. Labour and materials were supplied free of charge to the project as part of our ongoing commitment to being a responsible business.

Nigel Linger, the Operations Manager at Novus, who was presented with a certificate by Langley House Trust for his work driving the project, commented: “It was a pleasure to be able to help make a difference to residents of Tekoa House.”

As a company, we put plenty of emphases on doing our bit for the communities in which we operate and I know the staff enjoyed the opportunity to do something like this, especially hearing the positive feedback from the residents about what it means to them.
