Internal refurbishment and external decoration

We demonstrated our expertise in leisure sector refurbishment with the upgrade of a popular Manchester hotel, both inside and out – all without disrupting the hotel and its guests.

The 4-star Copthorne Hotel, part of the Millennium and Copthorne Hotels Group, is situated in the heart of Salford Quays, Greater Manchester’s unique waterfront. The four-storey hotel boasts 166 en-suite rooms, a restaurant and bar, as well as meetings and events facilities.

A total of ten operatives, including painters, specialist scaffolders and a joiner worked on the eight-week project and began by carrying out decoration works to refresh the hotel’s exterior. Dulux Weathershield Smooth Masonry was used to paint the building’s masonry, Metalshield was used on the railings and Ultimate Opaque was used to refresh the paintwork on existing wooden windows and fascias.

Use of smaller scaffolding towers and cherry pickers enabled the team to carry out the works with minimal disruption to guests and the overall look of the building.

As the project progressed, we were asked to complete additional interior works to the hotel which involved redecorating 40 bedrooms in the 166-room building. Shower rooms were renewed, while the bedstands and carpets were also replaced to bring the bedrooms rooms up to date.

Certain areas of the hotel had to be strategically closed off throughout the project to allow for some of the works to take place, creating a safer and more pleasant environment for guests staying at the busy hotel, while still meeting the agreed deadline

The timeframe was particularly crucial on this project. We worked around the clock to bring the project in on time, even with additional interior works to complete as we progressed. As a result of the refurbishment, the hotel won a major new contract, so the project was a great success for us and the Copthorne hotel.
