Centrepoint
We were selected by homelessness charity Centrepoint to refurbish their Georgian offices in Sunderland over a six-week period. We completed work in eight rooms across the basement, ground and first floors in one of the organisation’s terraced buildings, on Foyle Street.
As part of this contract we:
- Completed plastering and joinery work
- Carried out interior decoration
- Installed new toilets
- Fitted lighting and emergency lighting
- Installed CCTV and intruder alarms
- Completed external works including roofing and bricklaying
A resident occupied the first floor of the building while the work was being carried out. Our staff liaised with the resident weekly to ensure minimal disruption was being caused by the work and made sure they had safe access to the building. We kept electricity, heating, hot and cold services and toilet facilities in working order for the resident.
Mark Rapley, Novus’ Gateshead-based operations manager, said: “We were delighted to have been chosen to carry out this refurbishment project for Centrepoint. The project gave us the perfect platform to showcase just what we can do – from the stripping out of a building and the plastering, joinery and decoration to the installation of CCTV, intruder alarms and toilet facilities.
Throughout the work, we ensured the resident occupying the building remained uninterrupted throughout the work and that they had a safe, accessible environment and remained informed about the project. We hope that we will continue to work in partnership with Centrepoint on future projects.
