WE’RE INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION

At Novus, we’re proud to be investing in the next generation – be it through apprenticeship programmes, trainee positions or helping in the continual development of our younger colleagues.
2021 marks the 87th year that the business has taken on apprentices, and we are thrilled to be continuing with this fantastic legacy. This year’s trade apprenticeship recruitment process saw us receive over 700 eager applicants, with a final 15 being recruited into roles across the country.
Helping to integrate our new apprentices into the business, we hosted our annual Apprentice Residential back in September. This three-day event saw our 2021 cohort attend Mount Cook Adventure Centre, Matlock, for a selection of team building activities, while also giving them an opportunity to meet members of the Seddon family and the wider leadership team.
Our new cohort join an existing team of apprentices, and we are delighted to currently be developing a total of 37 apprentices across the business. Alongside this, we have five Trainee Quantity Surveyors completing qualifications with us.
Apprentices have always played a fundamental role in Novus’ success and are one of the key reasons we have such strong teams delivering exceptional work across the country. We value the fresh new ideas these colleagues bring into the business and enjoy seeing the growth of our skilled workforce.
Alongside our standard trade roles, this year has seen us recruit several apprentices in support positions within our Head Office teams. These include a Business Administration Apprentice and a People Team Apprentice. Working collaboratively with a range of partners and stakeholders, we provide training and employment opportunities through supporting local schools, providing work experience, mentoring, and ultimately employment.
Of course, development opportunities don’t end with our trainees and apprentices. As a business, we’re always looking to enhance the skills of all our colleagues, and for over 75 years we have been focused on training with a direct employment ethic. We’ve funded MBAs, degree courses, HNCs, professional body accreditations and professional practice qualifications, alongside standard mandatory training wherever needed.
We’re extremely proud of our commitment to developing our team and are thrilled to see our colleagues succeed in their careers.
