Star apprentice following in father’s brushstrokes
Congratulations to Daniel Holdcroft from our Burton office who has been named as our Apprentice of the Year for 2016.
Daniel, who is 18 and has been working for us for two years, is following closely in his father’s footsteps. In fact it was his father, a painter at our Stoke-on-Trent office, who suggested he applied for an apprenticeship with us.
He was one of 19 hopefuls who came through a series of tests and interviews to be selected for an apprenticeship with us last year, and he has since excelled in the role.
As well as showing outstanding commitment to our community and charity projects, Daniel has been selected to represent the Novus at decorating events across Europe.
Daniel, who currently combines his apprenticeship with his college studies, will continue as a Novus apprentice until summer 2017, when he is hoping to become a permanent member of staff at the Burton office.
He said: “I knew I wanted to be a painter ever since I joined my dad on a number of painting jobs when I was younger.
“Being an apprentice at Novus has been a great experience, particularly competing in competitions and getting opportunities to travel and to see how decorators work in other countries.
“I’d encourage all other apprentices to push themselves and grab opportunities that come along – you’ll make plenty of friends along the way.”
Jackie Budden, training manager at Novus, said: “Dan was selected to be Apprentice of the Year because of the hard work he puts into his college work, the commitment he displays on site, and the number of competitions he has entered.
“Everyone at the Burton office has been hugely impressed by the passion and the talent he has for painting and decorating.”
