Offering Skills Workshops for the Homeless and Vulnerable
Working with Forum Housing, Novus offered a number of skills-based workshops for members of the homeless community, in an effort to help them rebuild their lives.
Skills Workshops for the Homeless
As part of our Build Back Better initiative and working alongside our partners at Forum Housing, the Novus team have been offering skills workshops and work placements for to vulnerable members of the community.
Forum Housing, are a not-for-profit housing association who specialise in providing safe, quality accommodation and support services to the most vulnerable members of our society. These include those who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or are on the verge of homelessness.
Whilst carrying out refurbishments to the now derelict Station Hotel in Birkenhead, Novus provided taster work experience sessions for Forum residents to gain insight into the basic techniques of building trades.
It is our hope that those who take part will go on to consider a building trade college course, an apprenticeship, and future career within the construction industry.
Ultimately, these workshops are designed to enable these vulnerable members of society to improve their confidence, skill-set, and employability prospects on their journey to rebuild their lives.
