We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted in the Excellence in Social Value category of this year’s Construction News Specialist Awards. These prestigious awards are the only national accolades recognising the outstanding achievements of specialist contractors, highlighting inspirational businesses and work from across the industry.

Now in their 18th year, the Construction News Specialists Awards help companies position themselves amongst the best in the industry and celebrate achievements and innovations over the last 15 months. To be shortlisted for a Construction News Specialist Award is a massive achievement and we look forward to joining some of the UK’s biggest construction companies at the awards ceremony in September.

Excellence in Social Value

The Excellence in Social Value category recognises specialist contractors that have delivered outstanding social value through their work, cultivating meaningful relationships with local communities. We are thrilled to have been named as a finalist in this category for our efforts in helping our communities through our companywide Build Back Better initiative.

Partnering with Business in the Community (BITC) we launched our Build Back Better initiative in January 2021 in response to the covid-19 pandemic. Featuring a combination of local contract-based social value schemes and large-scale Build Back Better challenges, the initiative focuses on the three core themes of reducing poverty, good health and wellbeing, and environmental action.

Built on a core set of values known as The Novus Way, we continue to hold our reputation for going the extra mile. During the January 2021 to April 2022 period, the Build Back Better scheme has seen us complete 197 projects, benefitting 5,100 people and delivering £1.9 million worth of social value.

Hendrix Lancaster, CEO at Coffee4Craig – the first recipient of the Build Back Better Challenge – has said:

“As a benefactor of support from Novus I was very impressed with Novus’ culture – all the Novus team I met were a pleasure to have involved in our Homeless Project, and as a charity we really appreciated that Novus listened to what we wanted and then made it happen. This may seem like a straightforward thing but so many businesses have their own agenda and dictate to us what they want. With Novus this was not the case, and from start to finish they only had one aim which was to help solve some of our challenges, which the refurbishment of key areas of our centre did.”

Awards Ceremony

The Construction News Specialist Awards will be held on Thursday 22^nd September at The Brewery in the City of London. We’re very excited for the ceremony and can’t wait to see if we bring home a trophy on the night!
