Novus delivers sensitive restoration of Keele Hall
A team from Novus is currently completing a series of specialist repair works at the Grade II listed Keele Hall, which is part of Keele University, working around several weddings to deliver the contractor’s consistent high quality results.

A 20-strong team of multi-skilled operatives has been carrying out roofing works, stone repairs and repointing to chimneys, along with re-leading to the 19th century building’s valley gutters.
During the £900,000 project, the team will be working on the courtyard, ballroom and lakeside elevations of the hall. In partnership with Keele Hall, we've been able to schedule work around functions and events, ensuring the site is vacated and tidy ahead of guests arriving.
A fabric facade has been erected over scaffolding, featuring an image of the building, pulling out original features such as windows, brickwork and carvings to ensure the aesthetic appeal of the venue remains throughout the project.
As Keele Hall is Grade II listed, the Novus team is completing work sensitively and in keeping with the building’s heritage.
One example of the team’s sympathetic ways of working includes moving older, intact roof tiles to the front of the building, while new tiles have been installed further towards the back, replacing damaged tiles. This ensures that the building’s history is highlighted and enhanced for guests.
Ged Carr, contracts manager for Novus, said: “This is a unique, challenging contract for the team which has given us the opportunity to showcase our vast skill-set and abilities. Our work at Keele Hall has been a complete success; we have updated the building’s exterior but maintained its heritage to ensure it remains a popular venue for years to come. We look forward to working on phase three.”
A representative from Keele University said: “We are pleased with the professional approach to the scheme, and the high standard of workmanship evident in the completed works. Novus has managed to successfully deliver the project with minimal disruption to the various events and activities taking place at Keele Hall.”
