NOVUS BUILDS INCLUSIVITY IN CONSTRUCTION WITH LATEST CHARITY CHALLENGE

We have announced the winner of our third quarterly Build Back Better challenge, with the national contractor backing Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust. The project, which will involve repairs and redecoration, was launched during National Inclusion Week at the end of September.

How have Novus Supported Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust?

Novus has supported the charity by providing the labour and materials required for a much-needed urgent repair and redecoration of the Mosaic Trust’s community centre, after a leak caused the facility’s ceiling to collapse.

Based in London, the Mosaic Trust aims to support, educate and inspire young members of the LGBT+ community and the people around them through accessible activities and services while advocating for young LGBT+ rights.

Our supply of materials and labour – which has been valued at approximately £4,000 – is being overseen by our Leighton Buzzard Operations Manager, Tony Ronayne, with work due to commence in early November.

The campaign is closely aligned with Novus’ values as a business and its support of National Inclusion Week. We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all, and took part in National Inclusion Week through daily planned activities for our colleagues across the country including virtual coffee mornings, listening groups and a guest speaker for its Women in Novus (WiN) Network.

Commenting on the Build Back Better challenge and National Inclusion Week, Matt Pitt, Head of People, said:

“We’re a family-owned business, and we’re proudly committed to providing an inclusive environment and equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of background. We are continually taking steps to be the employer of choice for inclusivity in the construction industry.

That’s why we’re delighted to announce Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust as the winner of our latest Build Back Better challenge, and we’re particularly pleased that we were able make the announcement during National Inclusion Week – which we celebrated across the business with various activities.”

Lukasz Konieczka, Executive Director at Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust, added:

“Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust is a small charity with very limited resources, which is why we’re so grateful that Novus is serious about Corporate Social Responsibility and aiming to make a real difference in the community. These repair works would have been close to impossible for us to fund given the current climate, and considering the health and safety risks we would have had to close the centre – but thankfully Novus came to the rescue.”
