NOVUS BRINGS TOGETHER HOUSING EXPERTS TO DISCUSS EPC REFORM

We’re working with Unlock Net Zero to educate the social housing sector on the impact of upcoming EPC reforms on housing strategies and retrofit projects by hosting a dedicated webinar session.

The Novus and Unlock Net Zero webinar, which is set to take place on Tuesday 23rd September at 10am, will bring together sector experts and delivery partners to discuss potential changes and share strategies for managing the shift from current EPC metrics to proposed new mandatory Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES). The session will also look at how housing providers can achieve this while balancing the demands of the home building and retrofit programmes, within the context of new industry standards and the rising costs of compliance.

Chaired by Inside Housing reporter Zainab Hussain, four webinar panellists have been carefully selected to generate a well-rounded discussion of the upcoming energy regulation reforms with each offering a unique perspective.

Our Head of Sustain, Rebecca Hart (pictured above), will explore the contractor point of view while Lucja Paulinska, Head of Environmental Sustainability at The Guinness Partnership will offer insight from a housing association standpoint. They will be joined by representatives from two specialist consultancies in the sector. Arnout Andrews, partner of the Midlands Net Zero Hub and Director at Andrews Environmental Consultancy, which supports social housing providers and local authorities in delivering retrofit energy projects and Alan Pither of Alan Pither Limited, who is an advisor to the Retrofit Academy and member of the BS40104 Committee, which is the code of practice for Retrofit Assessments, complete the panel.

Rebecca said: “The new regulations are going to change the way we look at retrofit solutions, and early discussions with industry and clients will help us to make better decisions for our WH:SHF schemes so that measures installed now meet the energy standards of tomorrow. It’s crucial that we collaborate as an industry to share our knowledge and understanding at this stage. I’m pleased to work with Unlock Net Zero to host this informative webinar session which should spark some interesting conversations about how the EPC reforms will impact us all going forward.”

The hour-long webinar session will conclude with an opportunity for an informal Q&A session with the panellists.

Unlock Net Zero is a knowledge portfolio that educates, informs, and connects people and organisations involved in adapting a net zero approach to their operations, products, and services.
