Novus boost for Mansfield District Council
We're celebrating after adding a high-profile contract with Mansfield District Council to our portfolio, which will see us build two brand new bungalows, including one wheelchair-accessible property.

Construction of the two-bed bungalows is underway on a plot of land on Bonington Road, in Mansfield, after our team removed several neglected garages which previously occupied the site.

Both bungalows are to be built under Lifetime Homes guidelines, which means 16 design criteria will be followed during construction so as to ensure the homes can be easily adapted for lifetime use, at minimal cost.

One of the properties we are building is wheelchair accessible, and so features adjustable height worktops, sink and hob in the kitchen, carefully placed light switches and level access.

Our multi-skilled operatives will see this construction project through from start to finish, delivering high quality construction, exterior works and interior works including plumbing, electrics, joinery, painting and decorating. The works, valued at £350,000 are expected to be complete in March.

Lee Hartley, commercial operations director, said: “This contract is a great opportunity for us to showcase our ability to construct high quality buildings to a tight timescale. We are delighted to be working in partnership with the council on this project and look forward to delivering high-quality, affordable housing for its customers.”

The deputy mayor of Mansfield, Cllr Roger Sutcliffe, said: "The development of this new scheme on Bonington Road shows yet again how Mansfield District Council is committed to building high quality new homes. We are one of the few local authorities who are investing heavily in providing new-build affordable housing and we are very pleased to be working in partnership with Novus on this exciting new development."
