GREEN FINGERED NOVUS VOLUNTEERS GIVE HOSPICE A HELPING HAND
A group of Novus Property Solutions volunteers gave up their time to assist with grounds and gardening works at the Dougie Mac Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent over two days in August and September.
The Hospice provides vital services to adults, young adults and children living with a life-limiting illness in North Staffordshire, also offering support and care for their families and carers. The gardens are a peaceful oasis for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy and the hospice regularly welcomes volunteers to keep them well maintained and properly looked after.

The team of 11 Novus volunteers got stuck in under the supervision of the hospice’s head gardener. Over the course of two days, they all worked together to assist with several seasonal jobs in the garden including fence painting and moving a small mountain of leaf debris and branch cuttings into a composting area ready for the autumn period.
Laura Hilton, Assistant Financial Controller at Novus Property Solutions commented: “It was great to give a little something back to such a worthy charity. It was hard work, and we all ached for days afterwards, but it was worth it to see the difference we’d made in just a short time, especially knowing how important the garden is to the hospice staff and patients.”

Activity like this is a central part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the local communities in which we operate all over Great Britain. Each member of our more than 700-strong workforce is entitled to take a day off during the year to participate in voluntary work for projects like this.
Kevin Rhone, Head of Social Value at Novus Property Solutions added: “Giving something back to the communities in which we operate has always been central to our company ethos. We actively encourage team members to get involved and as part of our commitment to social value, every employee is entitled to take one volunteering day per year to work with charities that mean something to them. Small acts like this really do make all the difference and I’m immensely proud of all we’ve collectively achieved here at Novus.”
