FIRAS accreditation: Novus adds two more regions

In collaboration with operational teams, Steven Mansey, our Compliance Manager has been successful in obtaining FIRAS accreditation across two more regions for Novus Property Solutions.
What is FIRAS accreditation?
FIRAS is an independent accreditation for companies who install passive and active fire protection systems.
The competence of operators within these companies is assessed by FIRAS and a database of competent employees maintained for each accredited company. This is regularly reviewed and subject to audit and random checks.
A more flexible and local service
After working closely with Fire Works Compliance Managers David Barnes (East Midlands region) and Peter Martin (West Midlands region), even more Novus colleagues have been successfully assessed as competent for the installation and maintenance of fire doors, penetration sealing and cavity barriers.
These are in addition to our existing, national accreditation which is being extended to regional areas.
This allows for the provision of a more flexible, local service that can be tailored to our clients and customer needs.
Additionally, those responsible for fire works are afforded greater control, which in turn ensures an additional level of quality assurance before an installation is certified under the FIRAS scheme.
Investing in passive fire protection
Novus is already a leading provider of passive fire protection works in the UK. However the company have significantly furthered their investment in this critical lifesaving function through:
- Membership with the Association for Specialist Fire Protection – providing Novus with further access to technical support and recognition within the industry as being a specialist and competent passive fire protection contractor.
- Development of regional based passive fire protection training and assessment centres – allowing continuous professional development of Novus colleagues in this field.
- Appointment of regional Fire Works Compliance Managers – controlling fire works at a local level, providing guidance and assurance throughout their area of responsibility.
- Adoption of the IFE training programme for all managers, supervisors and installers involved in passive fire protection works to ensure their level of understanding is reflective of their involvement in passive fire protection projects.
This significant investment will ensure Novus continue to provide the best possible service to our clients and customers and help Novus to grow in what is considered a strategically important area for the business in 2021 and beyond.
