We've been announced as National Business Awards finalists

WE'VE BEEN ANNOUNCED AS NATIONAL BUSINESS AWARDS FINALISTS

  25 JULY, 2017
We have been shortlisted for The Lloyds Bank Positive Social Impact Award for the 2017 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards. Our chairman Stuart Seddon said: “At Novus, we work hard to have a positive impact on our employees’ lives and on the communities in which we work, so it is very satisfying to have this work acknowledged by such a prestigious awards body.  Being shortlisted in the National Business Awards is an achievement in itself and we’re very proud to be named as a finalist.” The finalists were chosen from the hundreds of businesses that entered or were nominated across 18 award categories. They will now prepare for live presentations to an expert judging panel who will decide the overall winners. Continuing the celebration of Best of British Ambition, this year’s prestigious award ceremony will take place on Tuesday 14th November 2017, at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, where the winners will be revealed.  Conor McGinn MP recently hosted a reception for the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards at the House of Commons. This enabled finalists to meet fellow entrants, the National Business Awards Advisory Board members, judges (who they will present to in September) and sponsors of each category. Tom Broughton, Group Brand Director of the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards said: “Given the economic uncertainty over the past year, it is inspiring more than ever to see British businesses prosper. Through a thorough and comprehensive judging process, this year’s selected finalists demonstrate exceptional quality and diversity across a range of business sectors within the UK. We are now looking forward to the next step of the process and meeting some of the finalists face-to-face.”
We've been shortlisted for a Fleet Safety Award

WE'VE BEEN SHORTLISTED FOR A FLEET SAFETY AWARD

  21 JULY, 2017
We’re very proud to have made it to the final stage of the national Fleet Safety Awards this year. We’re one of six companies to have been shortlisted in the ‘Company Driver Safety Award (medium fleet)’ category. The Fleet Safety Awards is a prestigious annual event, run by national road safety charity, Brake. The awards recognise the achievements of those working to help reduce the number of road crashes involving at-work drivers and is open to organisations running any size or type of fleet, as well as companies providing road safety products or services to fleets. This year’s finalists include household names such as FedEX, Royal Mail Group, and British Gas, as well as a host of smaller companies. Brake received a record number of first-time entries this year and more than 70 organisations were shortlisted across 15 different award categories. The full list of finalists can be viewed here. Katie Shephard, development director at Brake, commented: “Congratulations to all organisations which have been shortlisted. The standard was exceptionally high this year and we’re looking forward to working with our external judges to select some well deserving winners.  “We’ve been incredibly impressed by Novus Property Solutions and their entry into our Fleet Safety Awards. It is fantastic that they are making a real effort to end the needless crashes on our roads as a result of at-work drivers. Our judges now have the difficult task of choosing the winners and we wish Novus Property Solutions the best of luck and look forward to seeing them all at our awards dinner.” The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Thursday 28 September 2017, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, Birmingham.
Celebrating Employee Excellence

CELEBRATING EMPLOYEE EXCELLENCE

  20 FEBRUARY, 2017
We have once again celebrated the great and the good of our staff with a sparkling Excellence Awards ceremony.  The event, which has been held for the last three years, is designed to celebrate the outstanding commitment and achievements of our staff, which led to the most successful year to date in our company's history. The ceremony took place at St George’s Park in Staffordshire, with more than 175 staff invited to celebrate fellow employees’ hard work, commitment to CSR projects, and safety excellence. After listening to an inspirational talk by Team Sky’s Fran Millar, attendees were then given the opportunity to vote for winners of some of the awards themselves. Five employees were recognised for their long service to the company - four for 20 years and one for an impressive 40 years. The latter award went to Desmond Blackburn, who has worked with us since 1976 where he began as a painter and decorator. Three outstanding projects, meanwhile, were shortlisted in the Best Changing Lives Initiative category. These were for clients Whitbread, Places for People, and Wrexham County Borough Council, with Whitbread emerging as the winner. The coveted Apprentice of the Year award went to painter and decorator James Riley from Wrexham, while six employees were recognised for their commitment to the Novus values, which are guiding principles for the way our employees should behave. The winner was Michelle Long for the Novus value ‘Work Together’. The evening also saw our offices recognised for their achievements, with the Birmingham office picking up the Operational Excellence award for its continual commitment to the Novus values. Safety Excellence was a new category championing team effort and was awarded to the York office, for its improvements in the management of health and safety each quarter during 2016. Our chairman Stuart Seddon said: “The Employee Excellence Awards are a great opportunity to reward and celebrate excellence at Novus. Our success over the last 12 months is testament to the hard work and dedication of all our staff and it’s fantastic to have the chance to say a big thank you for their valuable contribution and continued commitment.”
Novus triumphs at Business in the Community awards

NOVUS TRIUMPHS AT BUSINESS IN THE COMMUNITY AWARDS

  27 JUNE, 2016
We have once again been recognised for our commitment to the communities in which we operate with a prestigious Business in the Community award. We won the West Midlands Collaborative Action Award for the development and ongoing success of our Staffordshire Business Class Cluster initiative. The award was part of Business in the Community’s (BITC) West Midlands Responsible Business Gala Dinner. Established in 2013, the initiative was designed to create a long-term partnership between ourselves and Thistley Hough Academy, which is located four miles from our head office in Stoke-on-Trent. This acted as the trigger for seven more business and school partnerships to be formed in the three years since. In 2014/15 the businesses volunteered 1718 hours supporting 3065 pupils, helping to improve skills and increase their employability. In a significant night for us, we were also re-accredited as a Responsible Business, and also won the West Midlands Small Responsible Business Award thanks to our continued impact championing responsible business in the UK over the past 12 months. Meanwhile, Holly Hartley, principal at Thistley Hough Academy, was acknowledged with a Community Champion Award for excelling in her engagement and partnership with the business sector for the benefit of society. The West Midlands Responsible Business Gala Dinner is designed to celebrate the powerful role and positive impact of business in society. It is an opportunity to share inspirational stories of how companies and organisations are making a real difference in the region. Novus chairman Stuart Seddon said: “A responsible attitude is very much part of the Novus DNA. We are a family business and have always upheld traditional values in our dealings with our workforce, our customers, our suppliers and the wider world. We are proud to support the communities within which we work and working with local charities, community organisations and community volunteers we aim to play our part in improving people’s lives and improving communities. Our Business Class initiative is an extension of this and our way of directly supporting young people in schools through a long-term, needs-led collaborative approach.”  Raksha Pattni, area director west, Business in the Community, said: “At Business in the Community, we firmly believe that responsible business is not just a better way to do business but it is the only way to do business and I’d like to congratulate all those who have achieved success. “The recipients of our awards clearly demonstrate the positive impact businesses and individuals can have when they collaborate and come together as a force for good to tackle a range of economic, social and environmental issues that are essential to building a fairer society and a more sustainable future here in the West Midlands.” The other partnerships in the Staffordshire Business Class Cluster are: The Hanley Economic Building Society and Ormiston Horizon Academy Steelite International and Haywood Academy Riverside and The Discover Academy Home Retail Group and Stafford Sports College Keele University and Sandon College Stoke-on-Trent College and The Co-Operative Academy of Stoke-on-Trent Lucideon and The Excel Academy
