Introducing the Novus Shining Stars
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2021, we will be introducing our Shining Stars. These Apprentices have been nominated by their peers and managers as outstanding ‘shining’ examples and deserving of special recognition.
Shining Star - James Riley
James is an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Wrexham and joined us in 2013. He was nominated by his manager as one of our shining stars because of his work ethic and attitude to his role.
“James has developed a brilliant working relationship with both our commercial team but also the client. He took on an adapted bathroom scheme which had been left with quite a few problems that needed resolving. He approached this with maturity beyond his years and since being on the contract he has brought it back to the best conclusion, keeping the client very happy.
James is not afraid to take on tasks and carry out the work independently, with him now running several painting schemes independently. He listens well to the team around him taking on board the feedback given to him and has even been a mentor to other apprentices who have less experience on the job.”
Shining Star - Micheal Hunt
Mike is an Electrical Apprentice operating out of our Burton office.
Over the last 11 months Mike has adapted his working style alongside his mentor to ensure he goes above and beyond complying with the Health and Safety rules during the pandemic, he has a positive and conscious attitude in everything he does and especially when carrying out essential repair work in residents’ properties.
He covers the planned EICR testing and day to day repairs on the South Derbyshire District Council Contract.
“Mike is always positive and always keen to listen and learn. Mike will also put himself and carry out other tasks if required. He supported the trade operatives in clearing and labouring on a few voids to ensure deadlines were met.
Mike has received positive feedback and compliments from the client and residents that he has been working in their properties. He is progressing extremely well and always has a smile on his face. Making him a joy to work with.”
Shining Star - Brandon Paxton
Brandon is a third-year apprentice joiner, who has progressed to advanced stages with his studies having completed his SVQ4 (Scottish Vocational Qualification – Level 4) in August at the end of his second year.
Just to add some context you wouldn’t normally complete your SVQ4 until the end of your fourth year.
Brandon is also an overachiever in his practical capability with him now having his own van and able to carry out work independently where he is competent.
His colleagues speak very highly of him and have said he is definitely a star for the future, he has a positive attitude and embodies the Novus values in everything he does.
