University of Manchester acknowledged for changing the lives of local unemployed people
This year the Novus Excellence Awards highlighted some of the most inspiring of our Changing Lives projects, which have taken place throughout the year. The aim of these Changing Lives Awards was to acknowledge and highlight some of the most inspiring stories and to acknowledge the individuals and teams who have played a key role in making a difference. We asked our employees to put forward the Changing Lives projects they were most proud and the University of Manchester Partnership was one of ten Changing Lives projects acknowledged.

The Novus University of Manchester Contract team have been partnering with The Works Manchester, supporting
local people to find jobs, develop skills and access training. Hamid was the first trainee to take part in the work place
programme, working with the Novus team for a week, won day-to-day repairs such as plumbing and joinery. Through out 2015 a number of activities have taken place ranging from, one week work placements taking place every 8 weeks, to Health and Safety training to help individuals achieve CSCS, and Novus have redecorated sections of the works Training Centre.

“Hamid had a great attitude, he’s hard working and eager to learn. I even doubled my workload that day thanks to Hamid’s support.”

Jamie, Hamid’s mentor @ Novus
