Business Class Partnership acknowledged for working in collaboration and making a difference to thousands of pupil’s across Stoke-on-Trent
The Novus Chairman, Stuart Seddon in partnership with Business in the Community have developed an inovative ‘cluster’ of business and school partnerships across Stoke-on-Trent. 8 partnerships have been established with each business committed to a 3 year partnership to support their school partner to improve performance for the benefit of their pupils. Support projects have taken place ranging from strategic advise, to mentoring, to skills projects to volunteer challenges to improve school facilities; and in 2014/15 the businesses in the Cluster volunteered 1718 hours supporting 3065 pupils helping improving academic achievement and increase students employability.

Stafford and Rural Homes acknowledged for working as a team to help change lives
Novus have been working in partnership with Stafford and Rural Homes to improve the aesthetics of the housing stock and enhance the street scene. Not only did this refurbishment make a difference to the residents’ quality of life, but both Novus and SARH demonstrated excellent team work to deliver one of their largest refurbishment projects. Numerous community projects were also supported from hosting Prince’s Trust work placements; community events; and sponsoring the annual resident garden competition.

Trent and Dove Housing acknowledged for empowering the local community through the refurbishment of a social enterprise café
Novus, in partnership with Trent and Dove Housing, continually support local community initiatives, from sponsoring their Community Impact Awards to supporting community fun days to raising money for local charities. One project in-particular that the Novus team in Burton are very proud is the refurbishment of a social enterprise café. This café is run by a group of mothers with all proceeds from the scheme being reinvested back into community activities, so a very worthy cause.

Home Group acknowledged for changing lives through providing employment and skills development opportunities
Novus Scotland, in partnership with Home Group have provided 13 young people with employment during 2015 - that’s more than any other Novus contract. To help identify the young people in most need of an employment, opportunity partnerships have been developed with a number of education and training organisations (B.L.E.S.S Training is a social enterprise and West Lothian College being two key partners). Recently a resident DIY Skills Development workshop was also organised by Novus and Home at community centre in Castlemilk, Glasgow, offering employment and skills development opportunities to customers.

Wrexham County Borough Council acknowledged for transforming a run down Community Centre into a inspiring venue
The team from our Wrexham office, together with Wrexham County Borough Council, enlisted the help of residents to transform the Pentre Gwyn Community Centre. Novus enlisted the help of volunteers from the local community including the Youth Justice Service, local youth club and local supply chain (even current Welsh international, Christian Roberts) to totally transform a run down community centre. Extensive improvements were made, creating a modern facility that the local community can be proud of.

University of Manchester acknowledged for changing the lives of local unemployed people
The Novus University of Manchester Contract team have been partnering with The Works Manchester, supporting local people to find jobs, develop skills and access training. Hamid was the first trainee to take part in the work place programme, working with the Novus team for a week, won day-to-day repairs such as plumbing and joinery. Through out 2015 a number of activities have taken place ranging from, one week work placements taking place every 8 weeks, to Health and Safety training to help individuals achieve CSCS, and Novus have redecorated sections of the works Training Centre.

Places for People acknowledged for changing the lives of homeless service users
Novus' most ambitious social value strategy has seen us deliver over 40 social value projects during 2015 through the Places for People partnership, with one special project standing out. Novus was the lead partner helping transform a homeless support centre in Bristol. Over the course of a week period, over 20 Novus volunteers helped transform a communal room into a social enterprise café that now acts as an important socialising, meeting, skills development and well-being hub which plays a key role in helping the service users rebuild their lives.

Devon and Cornwall Housing acknowledged for transforming a disused building into a Community Centre
While working in the Foxfield area through the DCH partnership, local residents asked if Novus could help them transform a disused building into a community centre. Novus volunteers helped refurbish the building allowing it to open to the local community and as a result numerous activities now take place week in and week out from; I.T Courses, to Youth Club, to movie nights. This is just one of many Changing Lives projects that have taken place through DCH ranging from a community clean up, through to supporting a local school with the purchasing of new exercise books.

Poole Housing Partnership acknowledged for changing the lives of a vulnerable family
While working in a PHP property the Novus team discovered that the Grandparents of a baby lost his mum during childbirth, the grandparents are supporting the father to look after the baby but due to this difficult period had not had the chance to create a room for the baby when they stay over. The Novus team wanted to help, and as a result, refurbished the spare bedroom into a nursery and even donated a cot, bedding and toys. This is just one of many Changing Lives projects that have taken place within the Poole Housing Partnership during 2015, with projects ranging from a Sheltered Housing Garden makeover to improving a school playground to holding energy saving advice talks to residents.

Novus employees support Slovenia Legacy Event
Novus employees Steve Hand, James Riley and Dan Holdcroft attended a Legacy event in Slovenia. Where they helped decorated a school for hearing and speech correction. This event is held every year but this was the first time any country attended. Slovenia were extremely greatful for Novus’ help.

Novus were invited by the charity Business in the Community to speak at a Conference being held at the £200 million Cooperative HQ in Manchester. A number of organisation's attended (BooHoo, Trafford Housing, Warburton's, University of Manchester, New Charter Housing to name a few), the theme of the Conference was on 'What does good look like in responsible business?'

Novus Supply Chain Pledge delivering value to our customers
Over 1600 of our suppliers have achieved our supply chain accreditation since we re-launched our selection process. The process involves checking insurance and safety management procedures to ensure our partners maintain the highest of standards. To reinforce this partnership and raising standards ‘ethos’ we are also asking all of our supply chain to take our Supply Chain Pledge and support our Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Programme. Sustainability and ethical sourcing are important focus areas to Novus and our clients, which is why we aim to partner with organisations who share common values as us.

Salvation Army Housing Association Partnership Event
Novus held a partnership event with the key team members from The Salvation Army Housing Association (SAHA) to help launch a new multi million pound phase of housing refurbishment works. Novus Property Solutions help bring Hutton Community Centre in Brentwood back to life
Novus Property Solutions are currently restoring Hutton Community Centre in Brentwood Essex so it can once again become the hub of the local community. Brentwood and Ongar MP, Eric Pickles and the Leader of Brentwood Borough Council, Louise McKinlay were among the visitors to the Hutton Community Centre to view the £165,000 refurbishment works which are now nearing completion.

Novus sponsor Trent and Dove award for Impact in the Community
Novus Burton area office sponsored the Trent and Dove Award for Impact in the Community. Novus employees Gary Clay (Quantity Surveyor) and Peter Haydock (Contracts Manager) attended the Trent And Dove Impact in the Community Awards to present the award. Gray presented the award to a local community project called the kingfisher project, which helps develop local green spaces. This year the Kingfisher group has been active in creating a number of raised bed allotments to enable locals to grow their own fruit and vegetables. Novus are proud to be involved in these awards as 'community' is at the heart of everything we do at Novus.

The Novus CSR Awards are launched to Share Best Practice
All offices and employees were invited to enter the Novus Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2013. The aim of these awards is to acknowledge the best efforts from within the business that have contributed to helping us achieve our CSR and Sustainable goals. The Novus Birmingham area office and the Central East Region have jointly been acknowledged with this award and a video case study has been produced to help communicate why they have been acknowledged and share best practice.

Novus Bangor use innovative painting product to protect Hotel against the elements of the sea
Novus Bangor office are currently carrying out an external redecoration to the Cae Mor Hotel on the sea front in Llandudno, North Wales. This is not a straight forward external programme of works as the building has been partly painted in a weather shield product that formulates a unique high performance acrylic resin that provides total protection against all types of extreme weather.
