Works Description: Kitchen and bathroom replacements

We have had a long-standing relationship with Wrexham County Borough Council working with them now for over 20 years. Our current contract with them sees us installing 500 kitchens and bathrooms per year, including any additional works to properties bringing them up to the Welsh housing quality standard. This programme is being carried out in various wards throughout the Borough including Llay, Acton, Brymbo, Caer and Gwersyllt.

Properties that we work on within Wrexham County Borough Council stock range from flats, detached houses, non-traditional, brick and age properties. Due to the huge variation we often face a number of challenges, all of which are overcome within the time frames set by the client.

Throughout this project we are actively involved with many framework partnerships, championing local delivery and training, working collaboratively to drive efficiency through operational service delivery and the supply chain. In addition to this we have a significantly contributed to the development of local enterprise including a start-up cleaning business.

We have donated materials and provided labour to the value of over £25,000 for many community benefit projects. This includes coffee mornings, community centre refurbishments, school talks and charity donations. We keep KPIs of customer satisfaction for all properties complete; this currently stands at 91%.

The safety of the local community is it at top of our agenda. We visited Ysgol Heulfan Primary, which is local to where we are working in Gwersyllt to give a talk on-site safety. Over 100 pupils took part in the talk which took place during the school’s assembly. The session featured an interactive presentation on the various risks that come with the refurbishment works in an area including scaffolding, increase in vans on the road and staying away from the workers whilst they are working with tools.

Together with Wrexham County Borough Council’s Housing Service, we transformed the Pentre Gwyn Community Centre. We also enlisted the help of residents to refurbish a local community centre by giving it a comprehensive makeover. The renovation took nine days to complete and included the installation of a brand new kitchen and upgrades to the toilets that included new flooring, new hand dryers, and hot water taps. Seven other rooms of the centre were also decorated as part of the work which has given local people a centre to be proud of.

We hope to continue working with Wrexham County Borough Council for the foreseeable future, bringing homes up to standard and using our Social Value projects to make improvements in the local community.
