Contract Value: circa £180,000
Duration: 5 weeks
Location: Aberdeen
Project Description: Live hotel refurbishment

Our Glasgow team have completely renewed and refurbished 26 bedrooms and bathrooms at the Thistle Aberdeen Altens hotel.

Working in close partnership with the group’s building projects manager, we devised a programme and agreed to a specification to suit their budget, whilst adhering to Thistle’s high quality, contemporary branding.

The project involved ripping out 26 bedrooms and bathrooms across one floor of the hotel, before installing new bathroom suites and showers, together with the full redecoration of the bedrooms. During the project, we carried
out joinery, plumbing, electrical works, tiling, plastering, painting and the replacement of lighting and fittings in all rooms. The hotel remained open throughout the project and plans were put in place to minimise disruption for guests, visitors and staff during the work.

Operations manager Allan Milligan and his team from our Glasgow office completed the contract within budget and on schedule over a compressed five-week programme. The team worked seven days a week while staying overnight in the hotel and enjoyed an excellent working relationship with the friendly hotel staff.

Alexandra Young, building projects manager for Thistle Hotels, commented: “This is the first project Novus has completed for us as a client. The quick turnaround and the high quality of work, will, without doubt, lead to us doing more business with Novus in the near future. I was impressed both by the professional manner in which the management team procured the project and the workmen on site who excelled on the quality of the final finished
product. I will have no problem working with Allan and his team again, and can only look forward to Novus delivering a similar high level of service and consistency for future projects.”
