Value: £70,800
Location: Malvern, Worcester
Duration: 1 month
Project Description: Internal and External Refurbishment

Our Birmingham office recently refurbished Hasting care home in Malvern, Worcester. The home was to remain in full operation throughout the refit, therefore we had to ensure our workforce was flexible, efficient and quick to guarantee minimal disruption.

Our first task was to replace the three kitchens in the care home. The previous units were old and tired, therefore we installed brand new equipment as well as re-tiling the area and adding lighting to create a modern, open area for the care workers to cook in.

We were also asked to refurbish the three public bathrooms which were extremely clinical and out of place with the rest of the care home. So we replaced all the previous equipment, added new flooring, wall tiling, and repainted all three bathrooms with pastel colours in keeping with the rest of the home.

The salon needed to be relocated to the first floor to create a spacious area for residents to have their hair done. Relocating the salon involved a lot of reconfiguration including the re-wiring of the room, and adding plumbing for the new wash sinks. We also supplied new furniture and relayed the floor to create a tranquil environment for the residents to relax.

We undertook numerous external works which included the formation of new path ways up to the main entrance of the care home. We removed an old grass walk way which was replaced with new tarmac, handrails and block paving. We also widened the drive to make parking easier for vehicles. The alteration to the external area was aimed to ensure that both residents and visitors could get in and out of the care home easily.

We had to deliver the works whilst the care home was in full operation. Therefore we chose employess who had worked in similar environments previously. We also stayed in constant communication with the care home to ensure they could continue with their daily routines; ensuring that we were not in the way at any point during the contract.
