Client: Manchester University
Status: Currently, 14 years

The city centre campus of Manchester University is as diverse as the courses it offers. Historic listed buildings, cutting edge new architecture, high tech science blocks, and every possible type of student accommodation.

So, there is no straightforward stock answer to meeting the levels of reactive and planned maintenance that these very different types of buildings demand. "In our 14 year relationship with the university we have been involved with the ongoing care and repair of everything from lecture theatres to laboratories, and from refectories to recreational facilities.

Such has been our success in delivering this service that we have twice had our measured term contract extended, and we are continuing to build on our relationship with the estates team from the university to offer more effective planned works.

We continue to meet the demands of the University working closely with our customers to continually improve. We have recently successfully implemented a new delivery model whereby all materials are managed by our onsite stores manager; his role is to manage our bespoke store stock with the use of our IT Management System Impact Applications to ensure we have all items readily available in stores to meet demand. Our stores manager ensures materials are of the highest standard and works closely with our buying department to ensure value for money. As the majority of our workforce at the University are on foot, due to parking restrictions etc. our stores manager delivers materials to operatives as required, materials are delivered cut to size to minimise disruption to the end user and to control hazards such as exposure to dust. Since the Implementation of our stores manager we have seen an Improvement to our first time fix ratio by 16%.

Service has always been at the forefront of our delivery. This encompasses professional standards, quality of workmanship, strict compliance with Health & Safety, minimal impact on the academic environment and activities of the university and respect for the personal wellbeing of all its staff and students.
All of challenges that we are well qualified to meet.
