Project Title: Refurbishment Works to Student Accommodation and Communal Areas
 
We have been working with Keele University in a partnership to upgrade their student accommodation. Over 3,000 student bedrooms were upgraded in 9 phases during the summer breaks. Each year all of the works were completed in a 10 week period and through the application of Lean Principles, efficiency gains of 12% were achieved. The works comprised total refurbishment of each bedroom including:
 
  • Bathrooms
  • Furniture
  • Electrics
  • Floor finishings, blinds and curtains
  • Redecoration
 
Additionally, communal areas, including kitchens and lounges, were also refurbished. Completed kitchens comprised:
 
  • New units
  • Flooring and redecoration, including all M&E adaptations
 
Following the success of this partnership, we have continued to work with Keele on the refurbishment of teaching and administration areas throughout the Campus. This has culminated in the latest agreement for 1,200 student bedrooms/dual purpose conference lodgings to hotel standard.
