Why CSR is key for client relationships
As part of our ongoing partnership with social business Bromford we recently mentored young residents at one of their schemes in Stroud so they could paint their own bedrooms. Here, our CSR manager Kevin Rhone considers the ways in which projects such as this help to build and maintain relationships for all involved.

During one of our monthly core group meetings with Bromford, we discussed the idea of involving a group of young customers at their Ark House scheme in the redecoration of their own bedrooms. The aim of the project was to help this group of vulnerable young people develop new skills to take into the world of work and to assist them when they move into their own homes.

With the help of Dulux Trade who donated paint to the project, the Novus team mentored Bromford’s young customers in painting and decorating so they could help to makeover their own space. We held a competition once the young people had received their training, and assessed them on their attitude to work, quality of finish and the best practice methods they used. One of the youngsters – Kirsty – was named the overall winner and we handed her an iPad which will hopefully give her a great boost.

The day was a huge success, with all of the Bromford customers working alongside each other. There was a fantastic community feel to the day and hopefully the whole event helped the group of young people to build confidence and take pride in their bedrooms, making positive steps towards their future.

Projects like this one are all about us working in partnership to support our clients and their priorities, which are often about much more than simply refurbishing a property. Bromford, for example, provides its customers with a home and a place to live, and are committed to building strong communities and helping their customers live independent lives. At Novus, we share these values and are committed to playing our part in helping our clients achieve their goals.

Partnerships are the key to the success of any of our contracts, and at Novus we pride ourselves on thinking outside the box, being flexible and going the extra mile to deliver an excellent service.

The feedback from Bromford and its residents was very positive, and we believe that projects like this one demonstrate why we’re a great partner to work with. We’re keen to explore other initiatives like this to continue our commitment to the communities within which we work, and really make a difference to others.
