Stuart Seddon: 'Novus has a big year ahead'
A brand new year brings with it exciting new projects and challenges for all of us at Novus. Here, company chairman Stuart Seddon reflects on last year’s achievements and looks ahead to a successful 2014.
Last year was incredibly significant for us, with the company being rebranded from Seddon Property Services to Novus Property Solutions. Despite these huge changes, we remained robust in the marketplace, winning a host of new contracts and making a number of strong appointments. The rebrand gave us a fresh, contemporary look which will only be of benefit to us going forward.
All of Novus’ loyal staff members pulled together during 2013 to make it one of the company’s strongest years yet and I am confident that 2014 will see the same efforts with the same results, if not stronger. There’s no getting away from the fact that the next 12 months will require some very hard work and everyone will have to play their part – but I know that the team is raring to go and we’ve already made a great start to the New Year.

We have a number of impressive projects lined up, including carrying out environmental improvement work to about 250 homes in Rosyth in Scotland – our first contract under the Energy Companies Obligation scheme. Also this year, we’ll begin work on the Steelite, Aspire Housing and Stoke Housing Association contracts, which we can’t wait to be involved with.
For tabletop range manufacturer Steelite, we’ll be constructing an extension at the firm’s Stoke factory to help double the capacity of their workload. For Aspire Housing, we’ll be building three new homes in Newcastle-under-Lyme and for Stoke Housing Association we’ll be constructing eight new terraced properties in Stoke.
With these great projects under our belt and with our fantastic team, I believe we can really go forward this year and target our key sectors to win even more impressive contracts, helping us to grow stronger than ever before as Novus.
While we aim to grow as a business, we also aim to carry on supporting the communities within which we work. Our Business Class partnership with Thistley Hough Academy got off to a flying start and long may this continue – we have some exciting projects lined up with the school throughout the year so watch out for more information about those!

We’ll be carrying on with our Supply Chain Pledge and will be supporting charities throughout the year while also continuing to acknowledge our staff for their achievements in achieving CSR goals in the four categories of Environment, Community, Workplace and Marketplace.
There are many exciting prospects for Novus for the year ahead and as a team I believe that, as long as we all pull together, we can achieve our aims and goals and make 2014 a very strong year for the company.
