Shining a spotlight on our Public Services & Commercial works

When it comes to properties in need of upgrade or refresh, you’re in expert hands with Novus. Through our dedicated Public Services & Commercial (PS&C) division, our specialist workforce excels at delivering complete turnkey solutions that support your long-term property investment plans – whether it’s a bespoke one-off project or multi-million-pound national refurbishment programme.
What we do
Our PS&C team delivers a range of design and build services to upgrade and refurbish spaces for our valued clients across the hotel, health, education, retail, and student accommodation sectors. Our team’s expertise means that we can work within the specific requirements of each sector, whether that is keeping hotels operational whilst undertaking fit-outs, or working to specified time-frames to minimise disruption during school and university term time.
We have delivered thousands of projects involving the renewal, remodelling or reconfiguration of buildings throughout Great Britain, from minor alterations to highly complex full-scale building renovations. Our understanding of sector-specific challenges and our experience of working in live environments allows us to create appropriate, innovative and affordable spaces.
How we do it
Our team’s technical expertise and ability to manage difficult and complex projects, combined with our relationship-focused approach to doing business, has helped us grow our reputation across the sectors we operate in.
Our PS&C division is led by Executive Director Matt Hiley, who has a 20-year background in construction and refurbishment. PS&C allows us to provide a single source solution and meet client requirements for each individual scheme, and is divided into three distinct workstreams: Fast Track Fit Out, Partnerships, and Major Projects. Each of these workstreams is led by a highly experienced Head of Operations, ensuring all contracts are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality.
John McMonigle leads on Fast Track Fit Out projects, enabling our dedicated team to deliver the accelerated completion of interior spaces while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining quality and functionality. John and the Fast Track team delivered over 3,000 hotel room refurbishments throughout 2024 and every phased handover was delivered on or ahead of time.
Sean Ryan oversees Partnerships, which provides a single source hard maintenance, minor works and small projects service for long term client agreements mainly through Measured Term Contracts in Health and Education. We are proud to work with clients such as The Christie Hospital, Manchester NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester Metropolitan University, to name but a few – delivering their long-term asset lifecycle replacement and capital investment programmes.
Stuart Kerr heads Major Projects, expertly delivering contracts with higher levels of complexity that require increased or bespoke design and programme management. We have delivered complex projects from the refurbishment of The Riverside Group’s Independent Living schemes, store refurbishments for major retailers, hospital ward refurbishments and heritage projects.
Projects in action
During 2024 the Fast Track Fit Out team completed the largest programme delivery for our long term client, a leader within the hotel sector: 38 projects totalling 3,096 bedroom refurbishments, with every phased handover being delivered on-time and generating a turnover of £48 million for the business. This extremely high standard of work resulted in Novus re-securing its place on the client’s flagship framework for a further three years, all executed with a lean team of project experts, who should be extremely proud of a record year of success.
