Reflecting on some of our key successes of 2023
2023 was a big year for all of us here at Novus. It was the year we celebrated the company’s tenth anniversary through a variety of fun activities recognising and rewarding our valued colleagues, as well as fundraising and giving back to the communities we work in across Great Britain.
People are at the heart of everything we do, and this ethos is central to our success over the past decade. Our talented colleagues combined with our reputation for going the extra mile for customers, end users and wider communities continues to play an important role how we win work. This commitment has seen us successfully bid for a series of significant contracts and frameworks this year, spanning many sectors. Read on for some of our highlights.
Manchester University
Back in June, we were delighted to resecure a place with our long term client Manchester University on their MTC Building Maintenance Services framework, following a partnership with the client spanning more than 30 years. Valued at approximately £2.5 million per annum over a period of four years, this significant contract will involve a combination of reactive and minor maintenance work across the university’s 229 sites, with more than 15 members of our team based on site for the duration of the contract.
The Christie
Also in Manchester, our team successfully bid for a significant measured term contract with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest single site cancer treatment centres in Europe. Over a period of four years, with the option to extend for a further two years, our expert team will carry out a variety of internal refurbishments and alterations as well as external works throughout the hospital. As part of this contract, we’ll also be working on a fantastic wellbeing project – we can’t wait to share more on this next year!
The Countess of Chester
Continuing with the Health team’s success, we have also been awarded a 2+2 year measured term contract with The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Works include internal refurbishment and alterations, backlog maintenance and lifecycle improvement works, external works, and other works as required with anticipated values totalling up to £6 million over the full duration of the contract.
Onward Homes
We were recently awarded our largest retrofit scheme to date, through Onward Homes in Merseyside, further demonstrating our position as a go-to contractor for a variety of sectors and services in the North West. Our £15.3m partnership with Onward Homes is part of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 2.1 scheme, and we will deliver energy efficiency improvement works to 400 homes in the Kirkdale and County & Warbreck area of Liverpool.
Places for People
The southern team have also had some significant wins this year, increasing their presence across the South West and South East. Earlier this year, we began a major works planned investment programme with Places for People, where our team will upgrade thousands of properties over the next four years. The scale of the scheme has created significant employment opportunities in the area, and we’re currently on target to recruit 270 full time roles and 54 apprentice roles.
Wrexham County Borough Council
We’re always delighted to resecure contracts with longstanding clients, allowing us to build strong working relationships and really get to know the communities we’re working in. Wrexham County Borough Council is a fantastic example of our ability to build long-term partnerships with our clients and after 15 years of working together, this year we resecured a place on its initial void framework and also came first on its Void and Decant Property Repairs and Refurbishment framework, as well as helping the client retrofit their stock in line with the Welsh Government’s Optimised Retrofit Programme.
The successful tenders and completions of all of our 2023 contracts wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing support of our colleagues, customers, end users and trusted supply partners. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a fantastic 2024!
