NOVUS HOSTS SOCIAL INCLUSION DAY FOR HOME GROUP RESIDENTS

Last month, whilst working on a planned maintenance contract at Bodin Gardens, Basingstoke, for our client Home Group, we hosted a social inclusion day to allow residents to come together, meet the team and share stories. The event also enabled residents to take part in various activities including ‘Shoot the Hoop’ where the winners were given goody bags.
During the event our team delivered workshops which demonstrated how to complete simple DIY tasks including painting and drilling. The residents thoroughly enjoyed these sessions which helped us build on our customer relationships.
Creating positive environmental initiatives is very important to us, which is why we hired two large skips for the event allowing residents to dispose of any unwanted items safely. The skips were hired by our Waste Management partner Recomony, who managed and segregated the waste correctly, focusing on the importance of the three R’s (‘Reduce’, ‘Reuse’ and ‘Recycle’). We also educated residents and children on the significance of recycling and promoting a greener environment, and they later helped us in litter picking around the local area.
Assisting with the cost-of-living crisis, we handed out free home energy saving tips booklets to help residents who are struggling and are looking for practical support with their household bills.
Our Customer Liaison Officer Hazel Carby commented:
“We are delighted to be offering these new energy saving tips booklets to our customers, especially as times are extremely hard. This booklet provides extra help for our customers with free and impartial advice on saving money on their household bills.”
Overall, we had a fantastic time meeting the local community and learning more about our customers. The event also gave us the opportunity to spend time with those most vulnerable to make them feel at ease about the works we are completing.
Matt Wondrak from Home Group commented:
“I just want to say a big thank you to Novus. Your efforts and accountability at Bodin Gardens were exemplary. From the moment I arrived I saw how you brought the community together – seeing everyone clearing out their rubbish, to your team engaging and supporting a customer that suffered with anxiety.”
