Meet our operations leadership team

Following the well-deserved retirement of Mr John Seddon after 73 years with our family business, we’re proud to be continuing to build on the legacy he’s left to secure the future of the business for future generations of the Seddon family.

Ensuring we’re able to provide an exceptional service for clients across all of the sectors we operate in plays a key part in this, and we’re proud to have a strong team of leaders driving our operations across Great Britain. These individuals – our Heads of Operations – are the backbone of our success and play an important role as we continue to grow, leading their teams to consistently deliver outstanding results across our Housing and Public Services & Commercial divisions.

Housing

We’re proud of our strong reputation across the social housing sector, and we’re highly experienced in delivering planned and reactive maintenance services as well as decarbonisation activity across property portfolios.

We’re delighted to have recently appointed Jason Smithies as our Head of Operations for Scotland and the Northeast. With over 20 years’ experience across multiple areas within the social housing sector, including leading the delivery of Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) retrofit activity, Jason is the ideal person to oversee our impressive growth trajectory across the region.

Gary Clay oversees our housing operations across the Midlands, and has recently expanded his leadership to include the Southeast region. Having worked for the business since 2009, Gary’s commitment to driving excellence and growth has played an important role in Novus becoming a go-to housing contractor in the Midlands and beyond.

Our operations across the Northwest and Yorkshire are led by Mark George. His expertise and ability to lead his teams to deliver top tier projects to key clients in the Northwest and Yorkshire are a significant reason for our continued growth in this region.

Our final region for our work in the housing sector, South Central and the Southwest, is led by Jon Wiltshire. Jon is known within the business and among our clients in this region for his fresh thinking and strong leadership, allowing our teams to deliver exceptional results.

Public Services & Commercial

Our Public Services & Commercial (PS&C) division delivers a range of design and build services to our valued clients across multiple non-housing sectors, including hotels, healthcare, education and student accommodation, and retail. Led by our Executive Director Matt Hiley, our PS&C division is divided into three distinct workstreams – Fast Track Fit Out, Partnerships, and Major Projects – allowing us to deliver a single source solution for any client requirement.

John McMonigle oversees Fast Track Fit Out, leading his teams to deliver the accelerated completion of interior spaces while meeting tight deadlines and budgets, all while maintaining quality and functionality.

Our Partnerships workstream is led by Sean Ryan, who ensures we can successfully provide a single source hard maintenance, minor works and small projects service for our clients. This includes a number of long-term partnerships with high profile clients including The Christie Hospital, demonstrating our commitment to living our values as a family business.

Stuart Kerr is responsible for Major Projects, which delivers contracts with higher levels of complexity that require increased or bespoke design and programme management. His expertise and experience are invaluable in our ability to deliver these more complex projects across a range of sectors.
