How Novus can help you secure SHDF Wave 3 funding

We launched Sustain in 2021, which offers an end-to-end, fully PAS 2035 compliant whole-house retrofit service from our dedicated team of experts. The service is designed to enable social housing landlords to meet the Government’s target for all social housing to achieve an EPC rating of C and above by 2030.

This service is designed to guide customers through every step of their retrofit journey including assistance with applications for the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) through to installation and monitoring. We’re incredibly proud to currently be delivering £36 million of SHDF-funded projects, which will bring approximately 1,500 homes to an EPC rating of C or above, not only helping our clients meet decarbonisation targets but also making a real difference to residents’ lives.

SHDF Wave 3 applications are expected to open imminently, with £1.21 billion allocated to social housing providers to improve the energy efficiency of social housing in England. If you’re considering applying, here’s how our dedicated Sustain service can help.

Expertise

We have invested in training programmes to equip our frontline and management teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver successful retrofit programmes.

Recognising the importance of upskilling our workforce, we have invested in training programs to equip our frontline and management teams with the knowledge and expertise required for successful retrofit projects. Our links with The Retrofit Academy and Simply Certification have enabled us to provide training in PAS awareness and formal Level 5 Retrofit Coordinator qualifications. By investing in our team’s development, we ensure that they are well-prepared to handle the challenges of retrofit projects with efficiency and confidence.

Our Sustain team have vast experience in SHDF-funded projects specifically, having successfully applied for and delivered a number of Local Authority Delivery (LAD) Wave 1 and Wave 2 retrofit schemes. The team’s involvement in earlier Waves has enabled them to learn directly from their experiences and adapt ways of working for best results, putting Novus in an ideal position for Wave 3 applications.

Collaboration

Our expertise in delivering retrofit programmes is enhanced by our emphasis on working collaboratively with our valued clients. We strive for a ‘one team’ approach to funding applications and the delivery of retrofit installations with social housing landlords, and we have completed a number of projects through Sustain that embody the transformative power of working together towards the shared goals of achieving net zero and making positive changes for the community.

Communication is the key to successful collaboration, and our team is committed to keeping the lines of communication open with clients and residents throughout the duration of a project.

Compliance

To manage the strict compliance of PAS we have developed a cutting-edge IT system aligned with ‘the golden thread’, designed to streamline the PAS2030 installation process. This app-based system operates independently of WiFi and provides real-time access to clients via a portal or full interface. Each step of the PAS process is meticulously integrated into the system, ensuring that operatives cannot proceed without completing the necessary tasks, such as capturing photographs with timestamps linked to specific properties.

Rigorously tested and validated by independent Retrofit Coordinators, this system enables us to maintain compliance with PAS standards throughout the retrofit journey, enhancing efficiency and reducing administrative burden.

Flexibility

Our tried and tested collaborative approach allows us to remain flexible in our Sustain service, helping to achieve the best possible outcomes.

We understand the challenges that local authorities and other social housing landlords may face when it comes to decarbonising their housing stock, from time and budget sensitivities to potential negative resident perceptions of retrofit work, and endeavour to adapt our ways of working to assist in overcoming these.
