BUILD BACK BETTER: NOVUS COMPLETES THE REFURBISHMENT OF MOSAIC LGBT+ YOUNG PERSONS’ TRUST COMMUNITY CENTRE

As a business, we have set a vision to be a force for good and as a responsible business we are committed to playing our part in supporting the communities who need the most help. It is for this reason we set up our Build Back Better initiative last year, which involves supporting a deserving community project that concentrates on one of our three key focus areas: Poverty, Wellbeing, and Environment.

As a business, we are committed to creating a diverse workforce which reflects the customers we work with and the communities we serve. Based on this ethos, we chose Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust as our third Build Back Better challenge winners.

Who is Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust?

Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust are a Greater London charity offering a range of services to support members of the LGBT+ community and their families.

They provide accessible activities, programmes and services that aim to empower community members, provide essential resources, advocate for young LGBT+ rights, and embrace, promote and endorse the diversity of young people.

As a charity, they are committed to building an LGBT+ community that is strong and cohesive, where people feel safe, free from prejudice, and have space to thrive. A community where every LGBT+ young person feels empowered, inspired, and proud to be who they are.

How has Novus Supported Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust?

Novus has supported the charity by providing the labour and materials required for a much-needed urgent repair and redecoration of the Mosaic Trust’s community centre, after a leak caused the facility’s ceiling to collapse.

Based in London, the Mosaic Trust aims to support, educate, and inspire young members of the LGBT+ community and the people around them through accessible activities and services while advocating for young LGBT+ rights.

After our supply of materials and labour – which has been valued at approximately £5,000 – the community centre has now been completed and re-opened to members.

Lukasz Konieczka, Executive Director at Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust, commented:

“Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust is a small charity with extremely limited resources, which is why we’re so grateful that Novus is serious about Corporate Social Responsibility and aiming to make a real difference in the community. These repair works would have been close to impossible for us to fund given the current climate and considering the health and safety risks we would have had to close the centre – but thankfully Novus came to the rescue.”

Diversity and Inclusion Commitments

Our work with Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons’ Trust aligns perfectly with one of our key Build Back Better Focus areas – improving the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, customers, clients, and communities.

At Novus, we want to create a culture where our differences are celebrated and where our colleagues have a true sense of belonging. We want our team to feel able to bring their authentic selves to work – enabling them to thrive.

As a responsible business, we are working to shape our inclusion strategy. We are currently exploring what we can do to become a more inclusive employer, and we believe that supporting and partnering with inclusive and diverse organisations will play a vital role in shaping this strategy.
